Area 1 comprises Zone 1 and 2, and is of wide cultural, political and religious diversity. With such distances, trips usually include several countries and take at least three weeks at a time. This grouping of visits is efficient and cost effective, requiring sustained commitment and energy from the International Helpers dewan.

For the past several years, it has usually been just one male helper, Iljas, who
