ABOUT THE ZONE 9
Approximately 300 members, 15 groups, 6 countries, and 6 Subud houses.
Zone 9 comprises the southern countries of Latin America. In 2003 Brazil was one of two countries hosting the Americas Gathering, in Aguas de San Pedro. With members from all of the Americas, as well as from Europe and other distant countries, it featured youth activities, entertainment, a large art exhibition in the center of town, as well as several meetings, including the World Subud Council and the Muhammad Subuh Foundation. Colombia hosted the first part of this Americas Gathering at Amanecer.
Subud Chile has been focusing on enterprise support by hosting meetings and actively supporting various businesses and renovations for the Subud Hall in Santiago. There are many active young members in Chile meeting together, attending international gatherings, becoming helpers and participating in general.
In April 2009 Subud Chile celebrated fifty years of Subud in their country with a party at the Santiago House (photo) and a property was purchased for the La Florida group, also in 2009.
A lovely Subud hall surrounded by the mountains of Cordoba at Mina Clavero, Argentina, has hosted international meetings and has been a focal point for Subud life there. It was designed by Muchtar Martins, an architect from Portugal, and built with contributions from Argentinean, Portuguese, Brazilian and Chilean members and a loan and grant from the Muhammad Subuh Foundation. It includes a two-bedroom guest house. The Buenos Aires group also owns a Subud House not far from the downtown area.
The members in Lima, Peru, purchased a lovely Subud House in 1991 (photo). It was later renovated through a grant by the Muhammad Subuh Foundation and includes two latihan halls, a kitchen and dining area, and a large garden, and a room for helpers.
There are 11 Susila Dharma projects in the Zone, with seven being in Argentina.
